Québec libre!, also known as Vaillancourt Fountain, was designed by French Canadian artist Armand Vaillancourt and installed in 1971.
Despite all the controversy over it's so called "hideous" design and threats to remove it, this has been my favorite fountain in the world since I used to run through it as a little kid. In 1987 I almost charged the stage to drown U2's Bono when he spray painted his graffiti all over it and I'll chain myself to it if the city ever again tries to demolish it.
